Elder Gary Sprewell, a 24-year-old son of the church, is a member of the Community Chapel C.O.G.I.C. where the pastor is Elder George L. Fort. As a young child, Elder Sprewell was raised in the Church, under the leadership and teachings of the late Bishop, Dr. A.M. Poe Sr. and his beloved grandmother, the late Mother Helen Sprewell.

Elder Sprewell is no stranger to suffering; at a young age God has seen him through the death of two brothers a mother, grandmother, and many other close relatives and friends. He has had countless events where he should have died. However, he has found the command of God to be true, “No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper!”

Elder Sprewell is an extremely gifted minister of the gospel. God has used him to prophesy, heal the sick, cast out demons, and declare blessings upon the people of God. Elder Sprewell is the proud recipient of several prestigious awards, from both the religious and secular community. He preached his first message at the age of six and was one of the youngest to be ordained in the Church of God in Christ. He is said to be the youngest in the history of the church to be in any Bishop’s administrative cabinet. In 1999 He started the “Raise the Roof Conferences” a ministry that edifies and empowers the entire church, he also travels the country extensively preaching and singing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He has been blessed to share his ministry on both radio and television, to God be the Glory!

Elder Sprewell has been favored of God to serve on all levels of the Church of God In Christ. In his local church he serves as youth pastor, and member of the Executive board. He works tirelessly in the Metropolitan Eccl. Jurisdiction where Bishop J. Bernard Hackworth is his prelate. He serves as a member of the Bishops Administrative Cabinet, Adjutant, Director of Public Relations, Convocation Coordinator, and AIM Chairman. He has served in the international youth department and currently works with the international aim convention.

Elder Sprewell is also an anointed psalmist. He has been blessed to be on stage and perform with Karen Clark-Sheard, Dorinda Clark-Cole, the late Rev. James Moore, Men of Standard, Andre Crouch, Timothy Wright, Judith McAllister, Mary-Mary and many others, to God be the Glory.
